Standard Replay

gp_vcon was originally created to allow you to view a game, play-by-play, as if you were reading it straight from the printed report. However, with the technology available, it was possible to make things a little bit better. Now there's no need to attempt to cover the rest of the game, as you can only watch the game as it unfolds...

Standard Replay - Starting a game.

When Standard Replay begins, you are presented with a rather empty looking screen. Along the top graphic strip are the names of the teams involved, and the date of the game in progress. Underneath this, is where all the action happens...

Field Position

The other main feature that stands out on the screen is the stretched image of a football field. During the game, this shows the current position on the field, more as a guide rather than for accuracy.
There are three coloured markers used to show the important positions during a drive.

As a drive progresses, the red and yellow markers move appropriately, whilst the blue marker stays fixed until the next drive.

Possession

Towards the right of the Field, the two teams are listed with their current scores. Also, the team in possession has a little yellow star next to the name, acting as another useful guide.

Replaying

The two buttons you are most likely to be using are the "Next" and "Previous" play buttons. These are used to scroll through the game, with the "Next" button stepping forward through each play.
You can also use the UP and DOWN arrow keys the same way. This might be more comfortable than clicking the mouse button throughout a game.

Each play requires TWO steps forward to complete. The first shows the play about to be executed, as per the Report. The following step shows the actual play as it was executed in the Report. gp_vcon has been designed to display the game in this way to add some more excitement, as you can now see what the two teams are planning before it happens.
You are also able to step backwards (or rewind) through the game by using the "Previous Play" feature. Handy if you want to check something from earlier in the game.

Jumping Quarters

There is also the facility to jump straight to a specific quarter in the game if you wish to. Just click on the numbered quarter and the screen whisks you to that point in the game.

Of course, the main reason for replaying a game is to find out who wins...

Score - The kick is good !

When a team does score, the scoring text is shown in a highlighted colour, and the score at the top-right of the screen is updated to reflect it.

Other than these features, the game is exactly the same as the original in the report, but we feel it makes for a much more interesting Gameplanning experience to play the game like this !
