Preferences

For version 0.4.0b and upwards, the Preferences window has been redesigned to allow for many more options than was previously possible in the old layout.

In the Preferences section, you are able to set various parameters and configurations so that you may have the functionality you prefer, rather than get annoyed when something does or doesn't happen in a given situation.

The Preferences window

The left hand side of the Preferences window contains a list of available pages, with the default page being "General". By clicking on an item in the list, the page in the rest of the window will change accordingly.

At any time, you can Close this window and return to the main screen by choosing the Close button. If you have changed any settings and don't have gp_vcon set to automatically save your preferences on exit, you may want to choose the Save option from the menu.

General settings

The General page contains non-specific settings that didn't fit into any other section.

Save Prefs - When gp_vcon exits, you can have it automatically save both the preferences and some other settings that you cannot manually configure, like where the windows were located on the screen when they were last used). If you choose not to use this feature, then all of the preferences and window settings will never change, unless you choose the Save Prefs option from the menu on the main screen.

Fix Teams - Sometimes, a team name is changed, to one that isn't stored in the team database that gp_vcon uses as a reference. Having this option selected, gp_vcon will bring up the Team Editor window with a list of the teams it does not recognise, so allowing you to add these new teams to your local copy of the team database. If you were to not fix this, you would have problems when it came time to replay a game involving them, as gp_vcon works best knowing the name and abreviation that it can use to match against the contents of the reports.

Replay Fonts

On the General Settings page, you are also able to change the font that is used during a game replay. By default, it uses a font that is much like the printed report, but if you find this hard to read, you might want to try one of the other fonts. You may also change the size, making it larger or smaller to suit your own preference.

Blank Pages

The Printing / PDF page enables configuring of report output.

Blank Pages - Currently, this option doesn't work ideally, and you are advised to keep this disabled (un-checked).

Compression

You can turn on or off the Compression setting for PDFs. When enabled, this will compress the pages in the report, making for a much smaller file size. For example, a PDF report of 112k will compress to roughly 32k.

Default folder settings

You can set up Default folders on the Folders page.

On opening for the first time, the folders will default to gp_vcon's home directory. From then on, after changing them to your prefered locations, they will remain so. That way, you don't have to re-select a particular folder everytime you want to save or load something. There are folders enabled for the following :

Set All

If you wish, you can apply a certain folder to ALL the default folders. This will save you manually setting each one individually if they are all pointing to the same place. Clicking the small 'D' button will result in all folders being set in this way.
